Manipal University Teenovators 2016 – National Innovation Challenge for Young Minds

Held in association with INK, 500 students from 10 cities will participate in 6th edition of one of its kind competition; regional round to be held at Delhi 

Delhi, November 21, 2016: Manipal University, the pioneer in providing world-class education, in association with INK, announced the regional rounds of the 6th edition of Teenovators. The idea behind Teenovators is to equip future generations with not only strong basic skills and specialist technical knowledge, but also the attitudes and wider skillset required to generate new solutions and adapt to our rapidly changing world.

A National Innovation Challenge for students from class 9 through class 12, Teenovators involves projects based around Behavioral and Social Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Sciences and Life Sciences. This community of teenage students aims to transform imagination to drive impact. The event was held at Khaitan Public School, Sector 5, Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad with 12 schools participating in the preliminary challenge rounds; Mount Abu Public School, KMI International School, Khaitan Public School, The Heritage Schoolare some of them.

In the Preliminary Challenge phase, each school submitted a project synopsis during Sep-Oct 2016. The Delhi Challenge event felicitated the schools that participated in the Teenovators 2016 Program. The top teams shortlisted in the Pre-final Challenge will attend the Grand Finale at Manipal to compete for the prestigious TEENOVATOR of the Year award.  This program enables young adults to develop the confidence and insight required to generate a novel idea or new approach; the motivation, commitment and resilience required to pursue that idea; and the leadership, energy and dynamism needed to communicate the idea and drive it forward from concept to reality.

Based on the merit of the project idea, about 25% of the teams were shortlisted by a panel of judges comprising of Prof J B Singh, Department of Physics, Punjab University and Mr. Kalyanaraman, Author and Technology Entrepreneur, Mr. Pavan Soni, Innovation Evangelist, IIM- Bangalore. The shortlisted teams will design a solution and present it before the jury, following which, the finalists will be selected. The finalists are mentored and guided by industrial partners to develop working models of the solutions proposed. At the finale, final teams will present their projects before a panel of judges and the top three winning teams will receive the prestigious TEENOVATORS of the Year certificate and also cash awards totaling up to INR 10 Lakh. The Grand Finale of Teenovators is scheduled for January 2017 at Manipal.
