Imphal, 30th May 2023: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuey interacted with the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey, as a part of his four-day visit to the state.
His meeting with the governor was a step forward in his efforts to understand and settle the ongoing tense situation in the state. The leader had also consulted with Manipur CM N Biren Singh and his state ministers to devise a strategy that best addresses and works to restore peace in the state.
This comes as General Anil Chauhan, the Army Chief of Defence Staff, commented today that the situation ‘will take time to settle down.’
He emphasised that the conflict between the two dominant communities in the state has no relation to counter-insurgency but is an ethnic clash and is more of a law and order-situation.
Union Minister Shah also met with Union Minister for State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, and Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Deka among other officials concerned in the state as well as the Centre.
