Inclusion in SC List

State-wise details of proposals for inclusion of castes/communities in the list of Scheduled Castes (SCs) received during last year are as under:-

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has approved Modalities in June, 1999 as amended in June, 2002 for deciding claims for inclusion in, exclusion from and other modifications in the orders specifying list of Scheduled Castes (SCs). According to the said Modalities only those complete proposals of the concerned State Governments/ Union Territory Administrations which have been agreed to by the Registrar General of India (RGI) and National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) are processed further for amending legislation in terms of clause(2) of Article 341. The proposals indicated in table above, have been processed in accordance with the extant Modalities.

This information was given by the Minister of State, Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Vijay Sampla in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha here today.
