Income Tax department serves notice to 50k tax defaulters for not filling return!

The tax payers of the region who haven’t filled their tax details but had deducted TDS are on the radar of the tax department. Now tax department has taken action against them and asked them for a show cause notice regarding not filling the tax return. If they doesn’t receive proper reply within stipulated time frame then department will re-open their case and a heavy tax can be imposed upon them as per regulations.

Officials revealed that around 50 thousand tax payers between 2010 to 2012 from Ghaziabad, Merut, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar falling under Ghaziabad region have been served notice. These tax payer’s salary were deducted as TDS and also submitted to the department. Department got this information through 26A . Form 16 and 16 A of tax payers was also generated by them but even after that they did not file their tax return of that particular financial year. Thereafter department got this information through data collection from Central Information Bureau. So now a notice has been issued to all these tax payers from Central Information Bureau
