Greater Noida, Sept 13th, 2022: IDF’s World Dairy Summit 2022 was inaugurated on Monday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.

From Sept 13th to 15th, WDS will witness a congregation of global and Indian dairy stakeholders including industry leaders, farmers, and policy planners centering around the theme of ‘Dairy for Nutrition and Livelihood’.

In conversation with Ten News, Director of Dairy at Nestle India, a food-processing giant in the country, Mehernosh Malia talks about the developing Indian dairy sector.

Speaking about the importance of WDS 2022, Malia notes that the summit is a true testament to the progress of India’s dairy sector through the years.
“India has not only become self-sufficient but has also become one of the largest exporters of dairy products in the world”, he said.

 

When asked about the opportunities and challenges faced by the dairy industry, Malia replied that one huge challenge that the nation faces is cattle breeding.
“This is where the summit comes into the picture because not only do we showcase our story but we can also learn about cattle breeding from several other countries”, he said.

Talking about PM Modi’s inaugural address, Malia said that his speech was inspirational and insightful to the Indian as well as global delegates present.
“It was really moving to see his insight, knowledge, and understanding of the dairy sector as well as his ability to connect with people”, he said.
