New Delhi, August 9, 2025: The India International Handwoven Expo 2025, organised by the Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC) under the Ministry of Textiles, concluded on a high note, attracting both domestic bulk buyers and international interest. The event, held to mark the 11th National Handloom Day, brought together more than 200 handloom artisans, societies, and exporters, alongside over 100 overseas buyers from around 40 countries.
Speaking to Ten News Network, N. Sreedhar, Executive Director of HEPC, said foreign buyers had shown great appreciation for the design innovation, quality, and creative blending of natural fibres in Indian handloom products. “This will definitely boost the export market potential of our manufacturers from India,” he noted.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, accompanied by senior officials including the Secretary (Textiles) and the Development Commissioner (Handlooms). According to Sridhar, their presence underscored the government’s strong support for the sector.
Looking ahead, Sridhar expressed confidence in what he termed an ongoing “handloom revolution,” highlighting upcoming initiatives such as carbon credit benefits for handloom products. “This will empower artisans and improve their living standards,” he said.
With the Prime Minister and other leaders actively promoting handloom by wearing and endorsing such products, stakeholders believe production and exports are poised for substantial growth.
