GREATER NOIDA News (13/11/2025): In a significant step towards strengthening Indo-Japanese collaboration in the medical technology (MedTech) sector, a high-level meeting was convened on Thursday at the Yamuna Express Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Medical Devices Park. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, exploring joint ventures, and encouraging Japanese investment in India’s rapidly expanding medical devices industry.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Rakesh Kumar Singh (IAS), CEO, YEIDA, and co-chaired by Mr. Shailendra Kumar Bhatia, OSD, YEIDA, while the Japanese delegation was led by Kenji Shibuya, CEO, Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ). Senior officials from YEIDA, MEJ, the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), and representatives from several companies already allotted land at the park also took part in the deliberations.
During the session, YEIDA officials showcased the Medical Devices Park (MDP) as a flagship initiative designed to position India as a global hub for high-quality, affordable medical devices manufacturing. Spread across 350 acres with an overall project cost of ₹440 crore, including ₹100 crore in central government assistance, the park is one of only three medical device parks approved by the Government of India. Nearly 90% of the infrastructure development is complete, and land has already been allotted to 101 companies.

The park’s manufacturing focus spans critical healthcare segments including radiology and imaging equipment, cardio-respiratory devices, oncology and radiotherapy systems, implants, and in-vitro diagnostics. Its strategic location—just five kilometres from the Noida International Airport (Jewar)—offers exceptional multimodal connectivity and logistical advantages for exports.
YEIDA officials also highlighted an array of investor incentives, such as capital interest subsidies, SGST reimbursement, employment and EPF incentives, skill development support, and 100% exemption on stamp duty. In addition, YEIDA announced plans for a 500-acre Japanese City near the upcoming airport, envisioned as a dedicated hub for Japanese enterprises to promote deeper industrial, technological, and cultural integration.
The Japanese delegation expressed keen interest in pursuing opportunities for technology transfer, component manufacturing, and joint production ventures with Indian firms. Several Indian companies including Krish Biomedicals, Polymed, Desco, Syon Medicals, and Medisys shared their positive experiences as park allottees, commending YEIDA’s proactive support and world-class infrastructure.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured Krish Biomedicals’ manufacturing facility, the first operational unit within the Medical Devices Park. The visit provided a firsthand look at India’s growing capacity for high-end medical equipment manufacturing and its alignment with international standards.
Concluding the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advance cooperation under the “Made in India and Japan” initiative. The partnership aims to jointly serve domestic healthcare needs while targeting emerging markets in Africa and the Middle East. It was agreed that Medical Excellence Japan will bring a larger delegation of Japanese MedTech firms to the park in January or February 2026 to hold detailed discussions on potential collaborations and investment opportunities.
The engagement marks a major stride towards creating a robust India-Japan MedTech corridor, combining Japan’s technological expertise with India’s manufacturing strength to drive innovation, affordability, and accessibility in global healthcare.
