India News Women Achievers’ Conclave & Awards Celebrate Gritty Women Driving Change

November 26, 2018, New Delhi: India News, known for its direct and unbiased brand of journalism, organized Women Achievers’ Conclave & Awards, an event to honour extraordinary women from diverse backgrounds and professions. Held at the Lalit Hotel in New Delhi, on Monday, November 26, 2018.
The event celebrated women who have demonstrated excellence, dynamism and innovation in their given fields – luminaries who have braved the odds, driven change and inspired the nation.
The event successfully shone a light on the importance of enabling women to discover the power that lies within them by bringing the spotlight on individuals whose success stories inspire others like them to challenge their limits, feel empowered to take decisions and break gender stereotypes.
Dr. Kiran Bedi, Lieutenant General of Puducherry, was the chief guest at the event that highlighted success stories of phenomenal women who continue to inspire through their passion for change, determination and the power of grit.
Dr. Bedi, who herself is an inspiration for many, spoke on the issue of women safety, gender neutrality, she said “Keeping in view on the issue of women safety, It is very important for parents to provide good moral values to their children especially the male child from beginning”. She also recognized the role of television and movies in building good moral values for the society. Dr. Bedi also felicitated some extraordinary women achievers with the India News Women Achievers’ Awards.
Ms. Shruti Haasan, Bollywood actress, in her special one on one interaction with India News, shared her experience of working for a decade now with Indian movie industry, about her movies and challenges she faced during her initial days. Shruti Haasan is presently working on her debut English album in U.S.
On the issue of #MeToo movement she said “#MeToo movement is an important campaign for the genuine survivors of such incidents and I support this movement”. During the interaction, Shruti mentioned that her father Mr. Kaamal Haasan is her biggest inspiration.
There was a special session with Mother-Daughter actress duo from Indian film industry, Ms. Salma Agha and Ms. Zarah Khan (Sasha Agha), where they discussed the issue of Triple Talaq. Ms Salma Agha said “I think, Triple Talaq bill is a very progressive step for women and the bill should have been passed much earlier”.
In another session on Women in Sports “Kar Har Maidaan Fateh” young women sports achievers, Ms. Anjum Moudgil, India’s No.1 Women’s 50 mtr rifle 3 position shooter, Ms. Tania Sachdev, Arjuna Awardee & International Woman Grandmaster- Chess, Ms. Divya Kakran, Wrestler, Bronze medalist at Asian Games 2018 and Ms. Dutee Chand, Professional Sprinter, silver medalist at Asian games 2018, discussed about their success journey, Ms. Tania Sachdev mentioned how sports is super positive which brings everyone together, Ms. Divya Kakran shared that she entered sports because she was not interested in studies.
Ms. Anjum Moudgil mentioned how athletes need more support like better infrastructure and financial support from the government. Another session was with Ms. Kritika Kamra, Bollywood & TV Actress where she spoke about her journey from television to Indian films. There was an interesting session with social media influencers Ms. Sakshi Malik, Model & Actress, Ms. Nikita Mehra, Model & Fashion Blogger and Ms. Komal Narang, YouTube star, these young women discussed on how young women are becoming an overnight social media sensations. The session also discussed on how these young women also faced trolls and body shaming on various platforms and how they have tackled them.
For discussing healthy lifestyle, there was a special session on fitness “Fit Hai toh Hit Hai India” with Ms. Jasmeet Kaur Arneja, Model; Dr. Rupali Datta, Dietitian; Ms. Sonia Narang, Ms. Mitushi Ajmera, Wellness Coach, the panelists discussed about the success mantra of reducing burden and being healthy in today fast pace life.
In another session on the subject of fashion industry, Fashion Designers, Ms. Nikhita Tandon, Ms. Charu Parashar and Ms. Ankita Choudhary shared their experiences in fashion industry and recent fashion trends, they also mention that online market is affecting businesses.
nother session was with “Young Women Politicians” attended by Ms. Aditi Singh, Ms. Shubhrastha and Ms. Aparajita Raja; which discussed the challenges women faces in various professions including politics and corporates. The session also touched upon the issues of women reservation and how women in politics are targeted, trolled and body shamed on social media platforms and how these women faces such situations.
There was a special session “Women in Uniform” with Major Archie Acharya, Indian Army, Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, Indian Navy, Wing commander Sukhbir Kaur, Indian Air Force and Commandant Kanju Mala Singh, Indian Coast Guard; these brave hearts discussed about their passion and success story of joining the force, these women in uniform encouraged and motivated young women to join the forces as equal opportunities are available for both men and women. There was another session on Women Empowerment with Ms. Shamina Shafiq, General Secretary AIMC, Ms. Aishwarya Bhati, Senior Lawyer, Supreme Court and Ms. Supriya Aron, Bareilly Mayor which discussed about the challenges faced by women in our society. There was a session on women entrepreneurship with Ms. Mohini Daljeet Singh, Max India Foundation and Ms Shivani Malik, Da Milano where they discussed on how women entrepreneurs are more socially inclined.
