The All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC), Noida Chapter hosted the inaugural session of Reflections: A Series of Interactive Sessions on Sunday, 29th July 2018. Reflections was launched in the spirit of fulfilling the fundamental purpose of AIPC, that is to build an ecosystem centred on connecting our Fellows to the political domain, thus enabling them to help promote an inclusive and progressive social, political and economic agenda.

The topic of the day was “India’s Neighborhood Diplomacy” that was aptly covered by Sharat Sabharwal, Former Secretary MEA and Envoy of India. The occasion was also graced by the presence of Dr Sanjay Sinh, Member Rajya Sabha and Dr Ameeta Sinh, President AIPC Uttar Pradesh and Former Minister Technical Education, UP.

The All India Professionals’ Congress is a new wing of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) aimed at forming a political group of all the professionals in the country who are interested in politics, and for whom it will serve as a platform to sit together and formulate ideas that will work towards the development of the nation.
Under the leadership of author, politician, and former international civil servant, Dr Shashi Tharoor, currently a second-term Lok Sabha MP, as its National President, the AIPC is forging ahead to empower Indian professionals to reclaim the political space, drive a change and make a difference.

The vision of the AIPC is to enable professionals to play a crucial role in setting the national agenda, in forming political opinions, and in debating contemporary national issues such as pollution and its effects on Indian cities, challenges facing the Indian economy due to recent demonetization, India’s tax reform, the importance of freedom of speech in a democracy with special reference to recent attacks on journalists and media-persons, etc.

The event commenced with a welcome address for the special guest, honored dignitaries and esteemed audience by Dr Huma Tahir, President AIPC Noida Chapter and CEO, Aevus Healthcare.

Taking the event forward, Dr Ameeta Sinh elucidated the task of building a “Progressive India” through the contributions of Indian professionals as a mission of the AIPC. She also urged Indian professionals to come forward and reclaim the political and development process. According to her the AIPC will provide a forum for open discussion of all matters of public interest.

She explained to the august gathering how the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) has been set up to create a national network of professionals, entrepreneurs and policy experts that will provide fresh ideas and solutions to India’s development challenges. As we have seen in the last few years, policymaking and implementation has left much to be desired. Part of the problem, she said, is that policymaking is left to a small group of people. The Congress Party, therefore, seeks input, ideas and solutions from a much broader perspective. She hoped that the AIPC and its fellows would contribute ideas and solutions to deal with India’s great contemporary challenges.

Adding onto this, Dr Sanjay Sinh explained how the AIPC would strengthen the core values of the Congress Party. He shared his vision of a more inclusive foreign policy for the India of the future. He said that having better relations with your neighbors is not only good for the country but for neighboring countries also.

The speeches were followed by an interactive session between the members of the audience and the dignitaries on the dais, where a platform was given to the audience to ask questions from the dignitaries, and resolve their queries.

The event was wrapped up with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Ankit Agarwal, Secretary AIPC Noida Chapter.

Hundreds of professionals from different fields such as Medicine, Accountancy, Administration, Development Sector, Academics and Researchers, Law and Civil Society Organizations, etc. attended the meeting.
