India second-largest mobile phone producer globally, generating lakhs of jobs for our youth: President

New Delhi, January 31: President Ramnath Kovind while addressing the Parliament on Sunday said, Today India is the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer, providing thousands of jobs for our youth.

Kovind said, “The domestic Mobile manufacturing sector is a shining example of the success of the PLI scheme. Today India has emerged as the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, generating lakhs of jobs for our youth.”

He said the government has launched 14 Key PLI schemes with an outlay of more than Rupees 1 lakh 97 thousand crores to fully realize the potential of the manufacturing sector and to create new opportunities for the youth.

He further added these PLI schemes will not only help transform India as a global manufacturing hub but also create over 60 lakh jobs.

Moreover, in his address, he said that the cost of internet connectivity and the price of smartphones in India today are among the cheapest in the world benefiting the young generation of India.

He said, “Because of the policies of government, the cost of internet connectivity & price of smartphone in India today are among the cheapest in the world; this has hugely benefited our young generation. India is also working with great pace on 5G mobile connectivity, which will open doors to new opportunities.”

Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey 2021-2022 on the first day of the Union Budget on Monday. As per the Economic Survey, India’s GDP is projected to grow at 9.2 per cent in 2021-2022.

On Tuesday she will present the Union Budget 2022-2023

The union budget session of parliament will be held from January 31- February 11 and the second part of the session is scheduled to begin from March 14 to April 8
