New Delhi, 5 May 2022: The Indian Badminton team has reached the finale of Deaflympics 2021 at Caxias Do Sul. They defeated the Chinese Taipei by 3-1 in the semi-finals.
The team had a bad start in the semifinals with the pair of Abhinav Sharma and Aaditya Yadav losing by 17-21 and 14-21 in the first 38 minutes. However, Jerlin Jayaratchagan, managed to bring the team back on the winners stand with 14-21, 21-19 and 21-18 and drawing at 1-1 against Yan Ru Shen.
Soon after, Abhinav Sharma also brought a win for the team with the score of 19-21, 21-18, 21-10 bringing India to the winners front.
The team will now face the Japanese team, who defeated the South Korean team by 3-2, in the Finale of Deaflympics 2021.
