International Workshop on Sustainable Development Organized by Galgotias University and University Technology Malaysia

Galgotias University (GU), Greater Noida, hosted an international workshop on “Multidisciplinary Approaches to Research for Global Challenges in Sustainable Development” through its School of Basic Sciences. The event was organized in collaboration with University Technology Malaysia (UTM). The workshop emphasized the role of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex global challenges related to sustainable development.

Leadership of the Event: The workshop was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Sunita Sharma, who has a long-standing association with UTM’s Faculty of Science. Six distinguished representatives from UTM—Dr. Ahmad Khusairi Mohamad, Dr. Nurhafiza Hasim, Dr. Noor Izzati Mohd Noor, Dr. Noreihan Afika Ravi, Dr. Norshahira Mohd Said, and Dr. Mohammad Fuad bin Mohammad—visited Galgotias University and praised its state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities.

Key Highlights: The workshop commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Avadhesh Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, who highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in tackling global challenges. The formal inauguration of the workshop was done by Galgotias University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) K. Mallikharjun Babu.

Representatives from University Technology Malaysia (UTM) presented their research on significant topics such as the use of biomass carbon as biofuel, rheological characterization of hot mix asphalt binders with recycled materials, and the application of phosphate glass nanotechnology in bone regeneration. The workshop also included detailed discussions on UTM’s research facilities and opportunities for mutual collaboration between students and faculty.

Active Participation: The event saw participation from over 250 attendees, who engaged in in-depth discussions with experts and explored the latest research in sustainable development. This workshop further strengthened the prospects for future collaboration between GU and UTM.
