New Delhi (India), 26th March 2023: From the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) safely launched the OneWeb India-2 Mission on Sunday using India’s largest Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3) rocket and 36 satellites.
On Saturday, the LVM3 rocket’s second commercial launch countdown began. At nine in the morning on Sunday (26th March), the 43.5-meter-tall missile was launched.
The 36 first-generation satellites, each weighing 5,805 kg, will be launched into an orbit that is 450 km in diameter and inclined at a roughly 87.4 degree angle.
The LVM-III will launch 36 satellites for Network Access Associated Ltd. (OneWeb), a company headquartered in the UK, into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
The OneWeb Group Company and NewSpace India Ltd have agreed to send 72 satellites into low-Earth orbit (LEO). With the launch of 36 OneWeb satellites by ISRO in October 2022, the two groups’ first joint satellite deployment project was launched.
With its 18th launch and third this year, OneWeb, which counts Bharti Enterprises as a significant investor, will finish the first generation of LEO constellation. The OneWeb India-2 Mission is ISRO’s second successful flight of the year after the SSLV-D2/EOS07 mission in February.
