Japanese Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities in YEIDA’s Medical Device Park

Greater Noida, January 9, 2025: A high-level Japanese delegation, led by Yasuhiro Sensho, MD of Sensho Gumi, visited the YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority) administrative office to explore collaboration opportunities in the Medical Device Park (MDP) project. The delegation included Dr. Samuel JK Abraham, Kenji Shibuya, CEO of Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ) and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), and Sanae Sakurai, Executive Officer, along with other members.

The primary objective of the visit was to gain insights into the MDP project, including investment opportunities, manufacturer prospects, and land-related details. The meeting was attended by key Indian officials, including Dr. G.N. Singh, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Shailendra Bhatia (OSD, YEIDA), Praveen Mittal (Executive Director, Export Promotion Council of Medical Device Park), Rajendra Bhati (GM Project), and Dr. Smita Singh (AGM-Industry), among others.

The discussions began with a comprehensive presentation by Shailendra Bhatia and Praveen Mittal. The presentation highlighted YEIDA’s strategic advantages, policies for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Medical Device Park, and the incentives offered to investors.

The Japanese delegation also made a presentation led by Kenji Shibuya, which emphasized the expertise and vision of Medical Excellence Japan (MEJ) and ERIA in healthcare innovation and collaboration.

During the meeting, the Japanese delegation expressed keen interest in signing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) in the following areas:

– Developing a Medical Devices and Technology Park with YEIDA.
– Promoting pharmaceutical research and innovations in collaboration with the Department of Healthcare, Uttar Pradesh.
– Enhancing healthcare and medical tourism initiatives through partnerships with Invest UP.

Following the presentations, the delegates, accompanied by YEIDA’s senior officials, including Dr. G.N. Singh, visited the Medical Device Park site in Sector 28, YEIDA. The site visit provided the delegation with a firsthand understanding of the infrastructure and facilities available for potential investors.

The visit marks a significant step toward strengthening Indo-Japanese collaboration in the healthcare and medical devices sector. With the interest shown by the Japanese delegation, YEIDA is optimistic about future partnerships that will bolster investment and innovation in the region.
