Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Kisan Morcha announces Rail Roko and Mahapanchayat in Lucknow

Agitated over alleged inaction by the government in Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, Samyukt Kisan Morcha has announced to stop trains on October 18 and hold a massive Mahapanchayat in Lucknow on October 26.

Making the announcement, Samyukt Kisan Morcha leader and activist Yogendra Yadav said, “Samyukt Kisan Morcha will take out ‘Kalash Yatra’ in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh starting Oct 12. ‘Rail Roko’ agitation will be held on Oct 18 and a ‘mahapanchayat’ in Lucknow on Oct 26.”

He made the following announcement while addressing a joint press conference with Rakesh Tikait.
Tikait also replied to media questions and termed killings of BJP workers as ‘reaction to the action.’

“That was the reaction to the action. There was no planning involved and that doesn’t amount to murder,” BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said on the killing of three BJP workers during the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

A total of 8 people, including a journalist, 4 farmers and three BJP workers had died during the Lakhimpur violence. The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday filed an FIR for murder against Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of several farmer unions, alleged that Ashish Mishra Teni arrived with three vehicles around the time that farmers were dispersing from their protest at the helipad and mowed down farmers and towards the end also attacked SKM leader Tajinder Singh Virk directly, by trying to run a vehicle over him.
