New Delhi (21/03/2022): Six times World Amateur Boxing Champion and Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom along with Chief Guest Tara Gandhi (Granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi) recently launched the Biography of Arunachal Pradesh’s first IPS officer, Robin Hibu.
The other key highlight of the evening was the conferring of the prestigious “North East Samaritan Gold Medal” to the proud winners and the launch of “8AM Sports Diet Scholarship” for 50 budding champions from North East states.
Speaking on the occasion, Mary Kom said, “Robin Hibu has been a relentless crusader for the people in distress, suffering and need all these years. As the first IPS officer from the state of Arunachal Pradesh, he has brought laurels to not only his home state, but to the entire country. All the Achievers of the evening truly deserve the Samaritan Award for their contribution towards the welfare of the North Eastern brothers and sisters.”
Shared Hibu, “Its been an extremely challenging journey so far, and I have no qualms in saying that I have never shied from taking the roads less traveled. I am pledged to serving the North East people in distress, and empowering them by creating awareness, providing legal emergency assistance as well as healthcare- education facilities. We have been spreading all around awareness among people about the need to ensure their overall wellbeing, and to shield them from any discrimination. Every member of the society, and every state is an integral component of the country, and in the truest sense happens to be the mainstream segment of our country and the pluralistic society. The sacrifice of Nido Tania who was brutally assaulted aur murdered should not go in vain. I have always strived to convey the message that the people of North East add distinctive beauty and vibrancy to the country. As a representative of North East people, I diligently strived to enrich the NE mosaic culture and heritage in the majestic ambience of the Rashtrapati Bhawan at Raisina Hill during my stint as the first IGP from the N.E region to serve as the Joint Commissioner in the Rashtrapati Bhawan Secretariat in New Delhi. It’s my earnest desire to see my North East brothers and sisters play a more pivotal role in the country in the coming times.
I have always stressed on the importance of girl’s learning fundamental self defence skills. I feel truly overwhelmed on the occasion of the launch of my Biography. I am yearning to play a more bigger role for my Motherland in times to come.”
