Gurgaon: A mere four days are left for MCG to take over a majority of Huda sectors, but authorities at MCG are cagey in their approach, given the uncertainty surrounding the transfer process.Officials admit that despite knowing well they lack the wherewithal to take charge of these sectors, they have no option but to toe the state government’s line – that MCG has to take over Huda sectors in old Gurgaon by April 30.Adding to the worries of MCG officials is the hunger strike by Huda employees who have refused to be deputed in MCG. Senior officials are at their wits end, and say they will ask the state government to suspend striking employees or take penal action against them.”Despite being fully aware we are not equipped to take over these colonies, as we neither have manpower nor machinery to maintain these additional sectors, officials in Chandigarh have decided on the course of action. We have no option but to take over these colonies in two phases by May 15, at least on paper.

But we are worried that Huda employees are simply not in the mood to cooperate,” said a senior MCG official, requesting anonymity.”The only option left with us right now is to approach the state government and ask them to threaten the striking employees of suspension or penal action. If they are unwilling to do so, then we will have to seek an extension of the set deadline, till the matter is resolved,” he added. The state government, though, does not appear to be in any mood to relent. “This transfer issue has been pending for over a decade now.
