Modi Government’s crony capitalism in favour of Adani : Delhi Congress
NEW DELHI, March 16, 2023—Thousands of Congress workers, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar, held a demonstration outside Raj Niwas at Civil Lines today to protest against the Modi Government’s crony capitalism in favour of Adani, as a US short seller firm Hindenburg had recently exposed Prime Minister Modi and the BJP Government’s policy to favour him. Addressing the Congress workers, Ch. Anil Kumar said that at a time of deep economic distress, PM Modi has been selling the nation’s critical infrastructure to the Adani group, bending the nation’s foreign policy and forcing public institutions like the State Bank of India (SBI), and the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) to invest, and the recent crash in the Adani shares has placed crores of savings of poor and middle-class Indians at risk.
Besides Ch. Anil Kumar, prominent among those who participated in the demonstration were Ex MP Shri Ramesh Kumar, Former Minister Dr. Narendra Nath, Ex MLA and Chairman of Communication Department Shri Anil Bhardwaj, Ex MLA Shri Hari Shankar Gupta, Smt. Alka Lamba, DPYC president Ranvijay Lochav, DPMC president Amrita Dhawan, District President S/Shri Rajesh Chauhan, Satbir Sharma, Dharampal Chandela, Vishnu Agarwal, Jubair Ahmed, Adesh Bhardwaj, Legal Cell Chairman Adv. Sunil Kumar, Rajesh Garg, Vice Chairman of Communication Department Anuj Attrey, Abdul Wahid Qureshi, Hidayatullah, Ex MC Pushpa Singh and Meer Singh, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, NSUI, cell and cells and office bearers of Block Congress were present in large numbers.
The Congress workers carried placards and banners carrying slogans such as Modi-Adani Bhai-Bhai, Desh bech kha gaye malai” J.P.C. ka ‘Gathan Karo’, ‘Gathan Karo’ etc.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress MPs and other Opposition MPs had raised the Adani issue in both Houses of Parliament, demanding the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the issue, and the role played by India’s financial agencies in checking the malpractices of the Adani Group in manipulating the share prices of its companies, as they have been on a free fall ever since the Hinderburg expose became public, but the Modi Government, instead of accepting the Congress demand for JCP, has been creating roadblocks for the MPs from raising the issue in Parliament, after Shri Rahul Gandhi had made a compelling speech on the issue in Lok Sabha.
Chairman of the Communications Department of the DPCC and ex-MLA Shri Anil Bhardwaj said that the presence of large number of Congress workers for the demonstration reflected the anger of the common people against the Modi Government’s bid to protect the Adani group, which indulged in unfair share price manipulation to create an inflated image.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Modi Government, in a bid to protect the Adani Group, has risked the investments of public money in SBI and LIC, as LIC has lost thousands of crores of share prices forced to invest in the Adani Group. He said that the protest outside the Lt. Governor’s residence at Raj Bhawan was to make the Modi Government open their eyes, and order a JPC probe on the Adani issue, to unravel the whole truth, lest the great institutions of the country, built and nurtured by the Congress Governments over the years, will be lost for ever.
