Monsoon Turns Noida Into Mud Pool, Official Apathy Irks Public

On the onset of monsoon, people of Noida are concerned over lack of proper drainage system in the area causing inconvenience to the general public.

“The drainage system is lying defunct and the monsoon rains are flooding the roads and residential areas. There is no proper dewatering mechanism at place,” says Amit Gupta, a local resident.

“After a little rain the entire area turns into a mud pool and it gets difficult to venture out,” says another resident, Anju Pachauri.
People allege that despite making repeated requests for the addressal of issue, Noida Authority has been turning a deaf ear towards the issues. “Not only drainage, there is no department where work is properly done. The authorities are abdicating their responsibilities.”

Despite Noida authority carried out a de-silting of blocked drains a few days back, but the sewage was left unattended on the road sides. When it rains, the sewage and silt spreads in the entire area and also enters the housing compounds.

“The new regime of Noida Authority doesn’t understand the local problems. The drainage cleaning was supposed to be comepleted on 20th June, but it is not even near completion. This is very irresponsible on part of the Noida Authority,” Says MC Bharadwaj, CMA Noida.
