NBT, India Celebrates National Reading Day with a week-long Summer Camp for Children

New Delhi (19/06/2023): With the enthusiastic participation of more than 100 children from across Delhi NCR, Day 1 of the Summer Camp kicked-off with a session on the Lost Art of Letter Writing where they learned about the essentials of writing and posting a letter. The session was conceptualised to introduce the children to this form of handwritten communication in an innovative, creative, and engaging way followed by English Calligraphy and Origami workshops. Children of age group 6-8 years took part in a musical storytelling session and an interactive calligraphy workshop.

The five-day Summer Camp kicked-off on 19 June 2023 on the occasion of National Reading Day, to promote reading and also nurture the imagination and artistic abilities of our young readers. The sessions at the Camp have been specially designed to cultivate the joy of reading and enhance creative skills among young minds with carefully curated activities for children between the ages of 6 and 14 years.

National Book Trust, India is hosting the Summer Camp for Children at the National Centre For Children’s Literature in Vasant Kunj, Delhi from 19-23 June 2023.

The Summer Camp offers an exciting array of activities that engage and empower young minds with essential skills while fostering their creativity and imagination. Through activities like storytelling, letter writing sessions, fun-with-science sessions, theatre workshops, origami workshops, calligraphy workshops, etc., the camp aspires to instil love for reading, writing, and artistic expression among the young participants while allowing them to discover new interests and develop a curiosity for different subjects. The participants have been grouped into two categories: 6-8 years and 9-14 years, ensuring activities tailored to their respective age groups.

The admission to the Summer Camp is free of charge and for children who are unable to physically attend NBT-India’s Summer Camp, the sessions are also being telecast Live through a WebEx link available on NBT-India’s social media handles.
