After NEET UG 2017 has been announced in 8 languages which includes English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu and Tamil. The decision to conduct NEET in regional languages is taken as it is the government’s commitment of bringing about transparency in medical education and removing malpractices. It is expected that the NEET UG exam 2017 will be held on May 7, 2017, however the official notification is awaited at the official website of AIPMT NEET aipmt.nic.in. Karnataka and Odisha have also demanded the NEET exam in Kannada and Odia. The state government of Karnataka has also written to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MHFW) requesting that the question paper should be both Kannada and English.
It is expected that the Karnataka examination Authority KEA will allocate the medical and dental seats based on the scores the student gets in NEET. The request to conduct NEET been made to keep Kannada as a language as there are applicants who are not fluent with either English or Hindi. According to report in The Hindu Manu Baligar, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, has also written to the Union and State governments with regards for conducting NEET in Kannada
