TWO THEFT CASES OF ALLAHABAD BANK SOLVED : THREE ACCUSED ARRESTED INCLUDING ONE BANK GUARD
With the arrest of Shashank Ray @ Sonu, aged about 23 years r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi, Permanent address:- Ghazipur, U.P., (2) Amrish Ray @ Monu, aged about 22 years r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi and (3) Virender Singh, aged 50 years r/o Bulandshahar, U.P., Central District police has solved two cases of theft at Allahabad Bank, Pahar Ganj, Delhi, which had taken place in the area of P.S. Paharganj, Delhi.
201 ATM cards, one gold ring, one LCD purchased from the stolen money and cash Rs. 2500/- have been recovered from their possession.
INCIDENT
On 29.06.2015, one Sh. Harish Kumar Gulati, Senior Manager of Allahabad Bank, Paharganj, New Delhi reported that someone has broke open the window situated outside the strong room and stolen five ATM cards. Immediately, a case vide FIR No. 429/15 u/s 457/380/511 IPC was registered at P.S. Paharganj in this regard and investigation was taken up.
TEAM
A team comprising of Inspr. Rajender Kumar, SHO/Paharganj, SI Parmendra, ASI Hira Lal, HC Devender and Ct. Suresh was constituted under the supervision of Sh. Om Prakash, ACP/ PaharGanj.
INVESTIGATION/ INTERROGATION
Initially, there was no clue. Secret sources were deployed and local intelligence was also developed. During the course of investigation, it was learnt that cash Rs. 3.25 Lacs have been illegally withdrawn from the account of the customers in different transactions using stolen ATMs. Meanwhile, on 17.08.2015, one more incident of theft was reported at Allahabad Bank, Paharganj, New Delhi. It was learnt that someone has broke open and removed the exhaust fan situated near strong room and stolen about 200 ATM cards. On this, immediately, a case vide FIR No. 539/15 U/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Paharganj in this regard.
During investigation, the CCTV footages of the cameras installed at the Bank and the ATMs were analysed. It was revealed that the accused persons involved in this crime are working in DRM office, Northern Railways on temporary basis (On contract basis) as Supervisor, House Keeping at DRM office Paharganj, New Delhi. On 18.08.2015, on the basis of secret information and CCTV footage already available with the police, a raid was conducted at the DRM office and two persons were apprehended by the police team from the DRM office.
On sustained interrogation, accused persons revealed their identities as Shashank Ray @ Sonu r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi and Amrish Ray @ Monu r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi. On further, interrogation, they revealed that they along with one Virender Singh, who is working as Bank Guard, hatched a conspiracy of stealing ATM Cards which were kept in the Almirah of the Bank. Virender Singh broke the rod of the window of the bank to facilitate access to Shashank Ray and Amrish Ray in the bank whereas in the second incident, Virender Singh removed the exhaust fan fitted with the window. On their disclosure, Virender Singh was also arrested by the police team from Allahabad Bank.

- Shashank Ray @ Sonu r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi, Permanent address Ghazipur, UP is about 33 years old and belongs to a poor family. He is employed as Supervisor, House Keeping at DRM Office, Paharganj, New Delhi on temporary basis (On hire basis) since 25.05.2013.
- Amrish Ray @ Monu r/o Pandav Nagar, Delhi is about 22 years old. He is employed as Supervisor, House Keeping at DRM Office, Paharganj, New Delhi On temporary basis (On hire basis). He is studying in B.A IIIrd year.
- Virender Singh r/o Bulandshahar, UP is about 50 years old. He is employed as Guard at Allahabad Bank, Paharganj, New Delhi since 01.07.2013.
