Prayas Welfare Society Ballabgarh celebrated its 20th foundation day on 25th November 2018. Prayas Welfare society is an NGO working for last 20 years to the benefit of children and women from economically weaker sections. It is running several schools without charging any fee or a token amount of fee from the students and also providing skill training to them to make them self dependent. The society also runs special training facilities for women from economically weaker sections of society to learn skills and start their own ventures. Prayas has a unique way of functioning by running evening classes in the regular schools to save on infrastructure cost.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the society Mr. Ramesh Kumar Gupta said “that this society not only provides education to the poor section of the society, but it also provides training and opportunities to its students to have their source of income”. He further added that “the society provides these children not only the academic education but also provides them cultural values as well as vision toward a healthy life”.
The chief guest of the program was IPS Mr. Alok Mittal. In his address he appreciated the social work Prayas Welfare Society has been doing for all these 20 years. He said “that upliftment of the downtrodden is itself a major step of social work, which is highly appreciable”. He called upon the students of the society to follow their dreams with full passion. He motivated the students saying “that whatever they do, they should accomplish the task with full dedication and sincerity. He said that every student should not only concentrate on studies but also participates in sporting activities and do not forget to work as a team in every field”.
Guest of honor of the occasion Mr. Krishna Kumar, IRJ, said that “the level of education is still very low in our country. In this situation, more institutions like ‘Prayas’ need to come up who can help the poor sections of society in achieving their dreams”.
After the program woolen clothes were distributed to the students. Also, 190 girls completing one year course of stitching were given certificates for completion of course. They were also given sewing machine on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, founder chairman of the institution Mr. M. L. Gupta said “that the institution was started with 14 students in the year 1999. The tree of ‘Prayas’ has now 7500 branches in form of its students”.
Also present on the occasion were Mahesh Monga, Sanjay Gupta, Sushil Kumar Mittal, Pushpendra Chauhan (IAS Retd.), Pawan Gupta, Pawan Nagpal, S.L. Jain, Jai Suneja, H.L. Bhutani, Anil Jindal, Rajesh Kukreja and others.
