NIIT University (NU) hosts Educatomic – a webinar on ‘Education – when the future is now: Realities from across the world’

New Delhi, 4th December, 2020: Established with a vision to bring about innovation in higher education and learning in emerging areas of the knowledge society, the not-for-profit NIIT University (NU) conducted a webinar on ‘Education – when the future is now: Realities from across the world’’. Eminent speakers like Prof. Sugata Mitra, Million Dollar TED award winner, accompanied by speakers Mr. Yaacov Hecht, Founder & Chairman Democratic Cities, Mr. Javier Bronchalo Perada, Chief Global Estrategist and Prof. Mabel Quiroga, Director and Founder of Self organized learning environments (SOLE), joined the discussion.

The Educatomic webinar is all about challenging the boundaries of education and finding 21st-century solutions. Replacing traditional teaching-learning methodology with immersive techno-pedagogical approaches. It is a series of interactive webinars hosted by world leaders and educationists.

During the webinar, Prof. Sugata Mitra shed light on the current scenario of the education system and how it has been a breakthrough amongst educators across the Globe.

The education system has witnessed a wave of change that the pandemic forced us into. COVID-19 pandemic is expected to cause a fundamental change in the ways higher education institutions will operate in the foreseeable future. As social – distancing and self – quarantine will become a new reality for a long time, affecting the sudden shift in our educational institutions.

The speakers talked about the opportunities that an adverse situation like the current pandemic can bring forth; the increased collaboration among teachers, schools, students and parents to identify best practices that the new education system is witnessing. They also spoke about adapting to improved learning through peer support, self-directed learning and need for participation in community-based learnings.

Prof. Sugata Mitra, spoke about the need for rethinking about assessment and examination systems. He stressed that assessment and examinations drive the way education systems work.
