Probably inspired by the dream of leading a lavish life with little struggle, a small-time Noida Jeweler formed a gang of chain snatchers to create havoc on the roads of Noida and Ghaziabad. The businessman named Deepankar Sarkar runs a jewelry shop in Chauda village of Noida. Around 2 years back he came in contact with Saurabh Yadav and Saurabh Gupta, both residents of Khoda Colony Ghaziabad and Shoaib resident of Sahberi, Bisrakh.

He proposed to provide them with bikes and weapons to do jewelry heists in Noida and nearby areas. He purchased one Ymaha R15 and Pulsar 220 and provided it to the boys. On Deepankar’s directions the gang started doing snatching and loot of gold in Noida and Ghaziabad. After the loot the ornaments would be handed over to Deepankar who in-turn would face no problem in disposing them as being from the same trade.

He would melt the gold ornaments differently and would then keep them on mortgage with gold loan provider companies. The money that would be obtained so would be distributed between the gang with mastermind Deepankar taking half of it.

On 25th evening police raided the business and arrested all four gang members after getting clue for an informer. Gold and chains worth about 8 Lakh in total along with three country made pistol, ammunition and 2 bikes have been recovered by the police.

Speaking about the same SSP Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma said, “We are leaving no stone unturned to make Noida a safe and secure city. Chain snatching complaints were being probed when the investigating team got to know about this gang. All four have been arrested and are being investigated to get any more relevant information”.
