IAS officer Parameswaran Iyer was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog on Friday.
The Department of Personnel and Training announced his appointment. Iyer will replace the Amitabh Kant as the CEO for two years.
Iyer, a 1981-batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre and a well-known sanitation specialist. He had resigned from the post of Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary in July last year.
Iyer had taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service in 2009. He had also worked as a senior rural water sanitation specialist at the United Nations.
