All payment systems to remain closed on April 1, no RTGS and NEFT transfers too: RBI

March 30: As per an official statement by the Reserve Bank of India, all payment systems, including Real time gross settlement (RTGS) and National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT), will remain closed on April 1. The statement issued on Thursday clarified that contrary to a previous notice issued by the bank which claimed that payment systems will remain open on all days from March 25 to April 1, the new circular clearly states that it is not the case and payment systems will indeed remain closed on April 1.

Reportedly, a separate broadcast message in this regard has been issued through the respective system to the member banks. The statement also stated that the instructions issued via the announcement made on March 23, regarding conducting Special Clearing operation on March 30 and 31 remains unchanged.
