PM Modi celebrates Khadi Utsav in Ahemdabad, says “no power can stop khadi from going global”

Gujurat, August 28th,2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on his two-day visit to his home state during which he celebrated Khadi Utsav at the banks of the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad.

In a one of its kind event being held as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Khadi Utsav is being organized to pay tribute to khadi and its importance during the freedom struggle.

A record was created at the event as 7,500 women spun the charka simultaneously to mark India’s 75th Independence Anniversary.

Modi himself was seen spinning the charka and interacting with the women and workers too.

Making a fervent pitch for promoting and embracing khadi, PM said “No force can stop khadi from going global. We must take pride in our heritage and the world will respect it”.

Referring to India’s freedom struggle, Modi remarked that khadi played a vital role during our freedom struggle as it inspired the future of a self-reliant and developed India.

“I foresee the day when khadi will be available at all leading clothing outlets of the world”, he further added.

Reminiscing his childhood when his mother used to work on the charkha, the PM said, “The bank of Sabarmati has become blessed today as on the occasion of 75 years of independence, 7,500 sisters and daughters have created history by spinning yarn on a spinning wheel together.”

PM Modi asserted that khadi can become a source of inspiration for achieving the dream of a developed Atmanirbhar Bharat, as well as providing jobs to thousands in the country.
