NCP president Sharad Pawar, a former defence minister, is concerned over the prolonged absence of PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi—as he is campaigning in Maharashtra—and the non-availability of defence minister Arun Jaitley owing to ill health, particularly when Pakistan is baring its teeth at India. In the past too, PMs used to participate in state polls, but that would be one or two rallies. But Modi is addressing rallies even at the tehsil level, pointed out the veteran Maratha leader. In an interview to TOI, Pawar, 74, spoke on Modi, ties with Shiv Sena and MNS and relations with nephew Ajit Pawar.
