Protesters besiege police station

The tumult outside the Vasant Vihar police station on Saturday stirred a feeling of deja vu. Over a year ago, angry protesters had demanded an explanation from these cops for Nirbhaya’s rape. This time it was the rape of a 14-year-old girl from Manipur, allegedly by her landlord’s son in Munirka, that brought things to a head. Hundreds of students, activists, Munirka residents and people from the northeast flooded the police station; some sat on the road in protest, and others shouted slogans demanding immediate investigation.
