RCEP will destroy Farmer community of India – Shiv Kumar Kakkaji

Rashtriya kisan mahasangh organized a big protest rally against RCEP in Wayanad district of Kerala.

While addressing the Farmers rally, Shiv Kumar Kakkaji (National Convenor of Rashtriya kisan mahasangh) said that RECP will have bad effect on every single farmer of India, India had suffered from earlier free trade agreements also. Now the most dangerous one is coming that is RCEP.

Kakkaji further said that Many of the RCEP member countries are giving big subsidies to their farmers while our government does not provide any help in form of subsidy. China provides free laons & irrigation facilities to their farmers. Some intellectuals are saying that our farmers will also get foriegn markets to export their goods through RCEP but reality is that the technical standards are big barries for Indian farmers.

He further said that there are no safeguard measures in RCEP & govt has not discussed RCEP agreement with farmer organizations. How an India farmer having two Cow as an average will Compete with foreign farmers having More than 500 cows as an average?

K V Biju (National Coordinator of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh) said that Agriculture is a state subject but central government has not shared proposed draft of RCEP with state governments.

Anti Free Trade Agreement Committee General Convener Basavaraj Patil said that Modi lead NDA is one of the most undemocratic government. They never ever discussed or disclossed anything about the agreement.

Rally started from Kottakunnu juction and reached Swadandra Mandapam. Karshaka Purogamana Samiti Chairman P M Joy Presided the public meeting. Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh’s South India Vice Chairman Suresh Patil & State vice Chairman Muthalamthod also addressed the rally.

On 31st october, Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh organized its south India core committe meeting in Mysuru to discuss action plan against RCEP. 65 farmers representatives from 30 farmer organizations participated in this meeting. K. Shantakumar (South India Chairman of Rashtriya Kisan Mahasnagh) presided this meeting.
