Richa Sharma Appointed Brand Ambassador of Faridabad, performs for Faridabad Smart City

The evening of Thursday 19th November was a special one for the people of Faridabad. Music prevailed in the air of the city for about three hours with the voice of Richa Sharma, the Sufi queen, of music world. Occasion was the crowning of Richa Sharma as the brand ambassador of Faridabad. Faridabad, being named in the list of 98 smart cities, is trying its best for making it to the top twenty cities so that it gets the advantage of being a smart city in the very first year of the initiative taken by the Central Government. In this reference, people participation is said to be the topmost condition under the scheme. To connect the people with the initiative Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, being the nodal agency for carrying the process, decided to appoint a brand ambassador for the initiative to motivate citizens for joining the initiative. Richa Sharma, being the daughter of Faridabad was found to be the most ideal person for the honour. In order to formally announce her as the brand ambassador a musical evening was organised on Thursday at the Sports Complex, Sector-12, Faridabad.  Mr. D.R.Bhaskar, Superintending Engineer, Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, looking after the Smart City Project said, “We requested Richa Sharma for being the brand ambassador because of two reasons, the first one is that she is born and brought up in Faridabad and hence, has a natural connect. The second reason is the huge fan-following Richa has. Her songs make the people leave their seats and dance to the tunes. Hence, we found her the right person for being the brand ambassador and she was kind enough to accept the honour”.

Richa, performing probably for the first time in her home town after reaching the top of the Bollywood fame, enthralled the audience with her songs like “Damadam mast Kalandar”. She also sang on the lines of smart city Faridabad. Richa during her performance also called upon the people of Faridabad to start the smartness from them. She said that how the city can be smart if the citizens do not act smart. She said that the issue of clean, green and smart is common to all. She thanked the Faridabad administration for the honour of brand ambassador.

The evening started with a song by Malya Arora followed by a number of performances by Kamal Khan. Kamal Khan gained recognition after participating and winning the Zee TV program Saa Re Gaa Ma Paa in the year 2010. A die-hard fan of Richa Kamal presented popular songs to enthrall the more than 10000 audience ranging from all age groups and all walks of life.

Another singer who enthralled the audience with his melodious voice was Diljaan from Sur Kshetra. He too sang popular tunes of all singers to keep the audience in musical mode.

Apart from Singing students from Manav Rachna Educational Institutions performed well on action packed dance. Another group of tiny tots from the institute came with messages of what they see in a future Faridabad as a smart city. A long applause for these children was the evidence of how much the audience felt them connected to the messages displayed by these tiny tots.

The chief guest of the evening was Member of Parliament Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar. Also present on the occasion were Chief Parliamentary Secretary Smt. Seema Trikha, MLA Faridabad Vipul Goel, MLA Ballabgarh Pandit Moolchand Sharma, Ajay Gaur District President BJP, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amit Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner of Police Subhash Yadav, MCF Superintending Engineer D.R.Bhaskar, Dr.Narhari Singh Bangar, HCS along with other dignitaries.

The winners of essay competition “Mere Sapnon ka Shahar kaisa ho” were also felicitated on the occasion. NGOs working in the direction of making the city a ‘Smart City’ were also felicitated on the occasion.
