London, Oct 26, 2022: Following his entry to 10 Downing Street as the UK’s first Hindu Prime Minister, Mr. Rishi Sunak has started off with a major cabinet reshuffle. Criticising the mistakes of his predecessor, Mr. Sunak has vowed to unite his party and the country in order to help the UK combat against a “profound economic crisis”.
Several key allies of Ms. Truss have been removed or demoted including Therese Coffey, who has been relegated from the position of Deputy PM to environmental secretary. Other close supporters of the former PM including Simon Clarke, Wendy Morton, and Chloe Smith have left their positions.
The new prime Minister has also decided to retain Jeremy Hunt as the finance minister amidst the cabinet reshuffling. Hunt was appointed during Liz Truss’s tenure and has helped in stabilising UK’s tumultuous markets with his new policies.
Dominic Raab has been named the Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary under Sunak’s regime. Furthermore, Ben Wallace has also been retained as the defence secretary.
With his top team by his side, Sunak is expected to remedy the economic mistakes made by his predecessor in the days to come.
