Lucknow, July 16 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav reconstituted the party’s National Executive on Saturday, including Amar Singh and Beni Prasad Verma.

Both these leaders were out of the party for a long time and had only recently returned to the party fold. Both were recently nominated as Rajya Sabha members.

Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav also said that Sanjay Seth has been appointed at the national treasurer of the party.

Seth is a builder from Lucknow and was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the party. His name was earlier recommended for member of the legislative council but Governor Ram Naik had opposed it as an Income Tax investigation was pending against him.

The new national executive now has 28 members and also includes Mohd Azam Khan and Jaya Bachchan, both known critics of Amar Singh.

Present party treasurer Chandrapal Singh Yadav has been removed and national secretary Rajesh Dixit and member Javed Abdi have also been dropped.
