Srinagar, July 10: In a major development, Jammu and Kashmir police busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba module and apprehended a man named Sandeep Sharma alias Adil for allegedly taking part in terror activities of the terror group. According to Jammu and Kashmir police, Sandeep Sharma alias Adil was part of a Lashkar-e-Taiba group that killed an SHO and five other policemen. Sandeep Sharma, an Uttar Pradesh-based criminal, was arrested from Muzaffarnagar.
“Sandeep Sharma, son of Ram Sharma from Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended from Muzaffarnagar. Criminals joining Lashkar-e-Taiba in Kashmir. Lashkar has become hub of criminals,” said Munir Khan, Inspector General of Police Kashmir. “To the locals, he (Sandeep Sharma) used the name Adil. He lived with two identities,” Munir Khan told media.
- Sandeep Sharma, the non-Kashmiri militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba, was arrested from Muzaffarnagar.
- Sandeep Sharma alias Adil is said to be the first non-local person found part of Lashkar-e-Taiba operations in Kashmir.
- Sandeep got in touch with Lashkar-e-Taiba through one person named Shakoor of Sopore.
- Sandeep was a close associate of terrorist Bashir Lashkari, who was killed on July 1.
- He also stayed in same house where militant Bashir Lashkari took shelter.
- The militants of Lashkar-e-Taiba took help of Sandeep to loot ATMs and carry out attacks on security forces. They also indulged in immoral activities in the villages of Jammu and Kashmir, said IGP Munir Khan.
- Sandeep Sharma used name Adil in Kashmir and allegedly participated in criminal activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba militants.
