Noida, (20/2/2019): Apeejay School in Noida had received a fine of Rs 1 lakh from the District fee Regulation Committee (DFRC).
The DFRC has imposed fine on Apeejay School for increasing its fees abruptly in January for the last quarter of this academic session. The school has also been asked to refund the excess fees.
The All Noida School Parents Association (ANSPA) had made a complaint last month against the school for hiking the quarterly fees by nearly Rs 5000, “in violation of the UP Self Financed Independent Schools (Fee Regulation) Act 2018”.
Chairperson of DFRC and DM of Gautam Budhh Nagar, BN Singh said, “since Apeejay School imposed the fee hike without permission of the fee regulation committee in violation of the act, we have imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the school so that it serves as an example to other schools in Noida as well”.
“The school has also been asked to refund the excess fees. We have also advised a review of the existing fee structure of the school to see if it matches with the norms of the UP fee regulation act. If it doesn’t, then an entire revision of the school’s fee structure will be advised”, said by District Inspector of schools, PK Upadhyay.
The UP fee regulation act covers around 139 schools in Noida and Greater Noida. It covers all the private schools affiliated to any board, including Uttar Pradesh State Education Board, CBSE, ICSE or any school with international affiliations as well which have an annual fee structure exceeding Rs 20000.
