Shiv Sena workers force shutdown of 500 meat shops including KFC outlets in #Gurugram citing Navratras
Gurugram, March 29: The Shiv Sena on Tuesday forced shutting down of at least 500 meat shops in Gurugram, including KFC outlets, according to reports. Over 200 Shiv Sena workers in Haryana went to Old Gurugram with notices demanding the shops stay shut till the Navratras get over. They have also threatened the meat and chicken shop owners with notices asking them to keep their shops shut on Tuesdays.
Speaking with CNN-News18, Shiv Sena leader Ritu Raj said that there was nothing wrong in the step taken by his party’s workers and even warned that those opening their chicken and meat shops during Navratras or on Tuesdays will have to face consequences. He said that they first when to the police, but the police paid no heed to their demands and they, therefore, decided to serve notices to meat and chicken shop owners themselves.
According to an India Today report, the areas targeted by Shiv Sainiks in Gurugram include Palam Vihar, Surat Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Sector 5, 9, Pataudi Chowk, Jacobpura, Sadar Bazaar, Khandsa Anaj Mandi, and also Sector 14 market. The report says that Shiv Sena workers asked customers at KFC outlets to vacate the places so they could shut them down.
