Shopkeeper in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur Assaulted With Iron Rods as Public Remains Mute Spectator
July 9: A small argument led to the assault of a businessman with rods in Hapur near Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The man was brutally beaten four days back in front of the public which did not step forward for his help. The incident was arrested in CCTV cameras but the cops did not file FIR despite the statement filed by the assaulted businessman.
The victim told CNN-News18 that the incident took place after he was travelling home post pulling down the shutters of his shop. ” After travelling for a few miles two men stopped me after which an argument was born. And post that they started hitting me and even called more people to join them,” stated the victim. Describing the situation further he told the channel that 2 more men, armed with iron rods, joined the argument and started beating him brutally for close to sixty seconds.
“No one came to help me and my body received several injuries besides fracturing my left hand,” victim added. The incident came as a shock to BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak who said necessary action would be taken against the cops if proved that they did not file the FIR promptly. Also, the BJP leader assured to take up the matter with the police officials. Being criticised over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Pathak told Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government should not be blamed for as it as the situation, as compared to what it was under the previous Akhilesh Yadav government, has improved.
