New Delhi, 1st July 2023: A senior DGCA official has stated that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will undertake an audit concentrating on safety of Go First’s facilities in Mumbai and Delhi from July 4-6.
Following the audit, the regulator will decide whether to allow the cash-strapped airline to reopen and sell tickets.
DGCA said in a statements on June 30th, “After a preliminary review of the resumption plan submitted by the Resolution Professional (RP) for Go First on June 28, 2023, DGCA has planned to conduct a special audit of the Go First facilities at Mumbai and Delhi.”
Shailendra Ajmera, the airline’s resolution professional, and Chief Executive Officer Kaushik Khona delivered a thorough presentation to the DGCA on the airline’s recovery plan on June 28.
The audit will also focus on continuous compliance with the requirements to hold an Air Operator Certificate, as well as physical verification of the arrangements made for the recommencement of flying operations, according to the DGCA.
The DGCA further said, “The special audit to be conducted from July 4-6 shall be focused on the safety-related aspects and continued compliance of the requirements to hold an Air Operator Certificate, as well as on physical verification of the arrangements made for the resumption of flight operations.”
Go First intends to begin operations with 26 aircraft, 22 of which will be used and four held in reserve, at 22 airports and 78 routes, with roughly 160 daily flights.
The airline formally filed its resurrection plans to the DGCA on June 30 after receiving approval from the committee of creditors for interim funding of Rs 450 crore.
Lenders to the cash-strapped airlines have stated that they are willing to make new loans to the airlines in order to restart operations once a clear resolution plan is in place.
