Sports Minister Vijay Goel welcomes Special Olympics Team India

27March,New Delhi –Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Vijay Goel gave a grand welcome to the Special Olympics Team India which bagged 73 medals at the recently concluded Special Olympics in Austria.

Bringing more sporting glory to the nation, Team India bagged 73 medals at the Special Olympics Winter Games held in Austria.

Competing against 2700 athletes from 107 countries, the Indian athletes won 37 gold, 10 silver and 26 bronze medals.

Interacting with the media Goel said, “I congratulate each member of the team and wish them all the very best for future competitions. Their win is a source of inspiration for youngsters and we will continue to support their endeavours.”

Team India has won 37 gold medals, 10 silver and 26 bronze taking their tally to 73 which was better than their last performance where they bagged 46 medals in total. Earlier, Sports Minister Goel had organized a special send-off ceremony and encouraged the players to do well in the Games.
