New Delhi, 8th August, 2022: According to Derek O’Brien (Member of Parliament), this is the seventh time in a row that a Parliament session has been cut short, and the Opposition will fight to preserve its sanctity and prevent the PM and Union Home Minister Amit Shah from turning it “into the Gujarat Gymkhana.”

Derek O’Brien, a Trinamool Congress MP, launched a new attack on the Narendra Modi-led Central government on Monday over its decision to end the Monsoon session of Parliament ahead of schedule. On Monday, both Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die.

“This is the seventh time in a row that a parliamentary session has been cut short. Stop making fun of #Parliament. We will fight for its preservation and prevent Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah from transforming this great institution into the Gujarat Gymkhana “In a tweet, O’Brien stated.

Since the start of the Monsoon session, proceedings in both Houses have been disrupted as opposition parties sought immediate discussion on issues such as price increases and GST, as well as the suspension of 23 members.
