Strengthening the “Local to Global” Vision: NAEC and Gaiabay Partnership to Redefine India-US Apparel Trade

NOIDA News (17/07/2025): In a landmark step to transform the Government of India’s “Vocal for Local” initiative into a true “Local to Global” movement, a high-level Networking Meet was organized today in Noida under the joint aegis of NAEC (Noida Apparel Export Cluster) and Gaiabay. The initiative aims to capitalize on the new apparel export opportunities created due to the tariff restrictions on China in the US market and channel them to Indian exporters.
Chief Guest, Rakesh Sachan, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Khadi and Villages Industries, Sericulture Industries, Handloom and Textile, Government of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the significance of this partnership. He stated, “This is a defining moment for India, especially Uttar Pradesh, to strengthen its foothold in the global apparel market.
The collaboration between NAEC and Gaiabay will serve as a strategic bridge to tap into major markets like the USA. The State Government will continue to support such initiatives that empower our youth and entrepreneurs with global opportunities.”
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament from Gautam Budh Nagar, remarked, “Noida has already emerged as a global manufacturing hub. Now, this partnership in the apparel sector will open new doors for employment, investment, and export growth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking local products to the global stage is becoming a reality.”
Lalit Thukral, President of NAEC, backed his remarks with data, stating, “The US currently imports apparel worth USD 154 billion from China, which is now expected to decline. This creates a direct opportunity for India to tap into an export volume of USD 30–40 billion. Through platforms like Gaiabay, we aim to directly connect Indian producers with the US market. This strategic partnership will provide small and medium exporters the much-needed competitive edge on a global scale. We are committed to transforming Noida into a Global Apparel Gateway. Thukral emphasised the need of creation of the infrastructure and strengthening of existing infrastructure and technical upgradation so as to grab the opportunity of apparel export arisen out from US-China trade war. He further said that under local to global mission more than 90% MSME units of apparel sector will be benefitted and these units will create employment opportunity to the large number of the people additionally.”
Representatives from Gaiabay shared that their robust logistics infrastructure and direct marketplace in the US will reduce delivery timelines by half and double brand visibility for Indian exporters. They also announced plans to establish export hubs in 10 Indian cities starting July 2025.
The event saw active participation from prominent apparel exporters, MSME entrepreneurs, start-up representatives, textile associations, and government officials from various states. A formal MoU was signed between NAEC and Gaiabay, laying the foundation for a strong export growth pipeline from India to the US.
This initiative is a key contributor to national missions such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘One District One Product (ODOP)’, reinforcing India’s position as a reliable node in the global supply chain.
