“Students from Delhi-NCR region have shown brilliant performance in academics and campus placements 2015” said Chandigarh University spokesperson, Mr. Ravi Sinha during a press conference at New Delhi. Be it the academic results in board examination, capturing top positions in University or campus recruitments by Multi-Nationals, students from NCR region have proved their mettle in every field, added Sinha. More than 96 students of Engineering, Management and Hotel Management from Delhi-NCR have managed to get 132 offer letters from top notch MNCs like Microsoft, IBM, Google, Amazon, Wipro, Cognizant, Bank of America and others during campus placements 2015, which is about 80% higher than the placements held in 2014, said Mr. Sinha. “There are more than 16 students from Delhi-NCR like Vijay Sharma, who is an Electronics and Communication Engineering student from Delhi who has been selected by multiple companies during campus placements”. “Vijay Sharma has been selected by 3 top notch MNCs like Samsung, Hitachi and Mu-Sigma” he said. Talking about other students from the region, Mr. Sinha said “Diksha Kashyap, Computer Science Engineering student and hails from Noida has been selected by 4 top-ranked IT companies such as Microsoft, Wipro, Cognizant and Oracle while another MBA student, Jasvinder Pal Singh from New Delhi has bagged placements in Yellow Pages, ICICI, HDFC and TCG Hamilton.

“The students from Delhi have also brought laurels for University as 2 of the students from New Delhi were part of the 7 member team which represented Team-CU at NASA Moon-buggy race and won 1st Rank in Asia and over-all 12th Rank in World during NASA Annual Moon-buggy Race held in Huntsville, Alabama, at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center” revealed Mr. Sinha. The 2 students from the region are Mechanical and Electronics & Communication Engineering students who represented Team-CU during the NASA Annual Moon-buggy Race included Sahib Sood and Taniya Singh.
Chandigarh University has formulated a special scholarship scheme for the meritorious students of Delhi-NCR so that they are rewarded for their performance in University and Board Examinations and are able to continue their studies and pursue higher education without any hassles. Announcing the details of Super Achiever Scholarship Scheme for meritorious students of Delhi-NCR region, Ravi Sinha said that any 10+2 or Graduation passing-out student of any stream with 80% or above can apply for academic scholarship upto 100% at Chandigarh University, added University spokesperson.

Chandigarh has emerged as the preferred destination for higher education for the students from Delhi-NCR region as The City Beautiful offers quality education with affordable fee, less cost of living and clean, green & safe environment to them. “There has been increase in number of students from Delhi-NCR year after year who are choosing Chandigarh as their Higher Education destination, as the city is well connected and with Chandigarh being selected as one the contender for Smart City initiative by Government of India, the city will attract more investment in terms of MNCs to set-up their industrial units or corporate offices at Chandigarh offering lucrative and increased job opportunities for the students studying in Universities and Colleges in and around Chandigarh” said Mr. Sinha. “With more than 532 students from Delhi and more than 816 students from different parts of Delhi-NCR region studying at Chandigarh University currently, CU has emerged as the top destination for the students from the region for their higher education as the university offers Flexible Choice based Academic Model to the students in which the students can opt for inter-disciplinary subjects which helps the students in undergoing multiple career options at the same time” said Mr. Devender Rustagi, Regional Manager and head Delhi Regional Office, Chandigarh University.

Students from Delhi stand to reap benefits while studying at Chandigarh University, as good placements have always been top priority which can be established by the fact that more than 425 Multi-Nationals have offered 4690 placements to 2015 passing-out students till date, Sinha said. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Google, Tech-Mahindra and L&T have visited University campus at Gharuan this year for campus recruitments.

With an endeavor to provide international academic exposure, research opportunities and international placements, Chandigarh University has achieved yet another milestone and has become North India’s first university to have signed partnership with more than 100 top ranking international universities from all across the globe. While giving details about the academic partnership with International Universities, Mr. Prabhdeep Singh, Associate Professor & Head, Public Relations said, “Under the signed MoU’s with more than 100 universities from 33 countries which includes universities from USA, Canada, UK, European Union (EU), Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Middle- East and Asian Nations”. While highlighting the academic alliance with foreign universities, Prabhdeep Singh said,” CU have partnered with 100 universities in which more than 36 Universities have QS World Rankings and are ranked among the top 700 Universities of the World”. Among the partner Universities, there are 14 Universities from USA that includes 158 year old, University of Illinois, Chicago which has been ranked 186th in the World QS Ranking, University of California, USA ranked 265th in the World Ranking, while among the 12 Universities from Canada which includes McGill University, Montreal, Canada which ranks 24th among the QS World Ranking and Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver, Canada which ranks 35th in the World Ranking, he added.

“More than 150 scholarships have been offered by the partner universities in USA, UK, Canada, Australia and European Union to the students of Chandigarh Universities in different domains or fields under which more than 500 students have applied for the summer internship and semester exchange programs” added Mr. Singh.
