Substation cashier shot at, 3.5L looted

Ghaziabad: A power bill payment counter inside a substation was allegedly looted of Rs 3.59 lakh and the cashier was shot at by an armed assailant in DLF Ankur Vihar on Monday. An FIR has been lodged in Loni but the police have found some loopholes in the case.

According to police, Kumar said that a stranger walked inside the kiosk around closing time. The kiosk door and the grille gate that opens into the substation were ajar and the robber walked in nonchalantly and picked up the cash bag.
“Kumar said he was startled and began following the person outside the substation. The man allegedly opened fire upon Kumar, missing him narrowly. However, we did not find any gunshot marks or cartridge from the site. It’s also not clear why the doors were left open,” said SHO of Loni police station AP Singh.
