NOIDA (03/01/2022): Noida needs no introduction and is inarguably one of the most prominent non-metropolitian town in the country. While the city was always known for being the IT hub and its proximity to National capital, unfortunately Noida never won laurels for being very clean or organised.
However, the Noida story has changed for good. Though gradually but very practically, the turnaround of various stretches, streets and sectors is very much visible on the ground. What once used to be a not so pleasant sites have become photo spots.
At the core of Noida’s march from swaccchta to samriddhi is no one other than Noida Authority and it’s CEO Ritu Maheshwari. It is with the efforts and vision of this dynamic officer that Noida got the ‘India’s cleanest medium city’ award in the 3 to 10 lakh population categories in Swachh Sarvekshan 2021.
Swachh Survekshan is an annual survey of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in cities and towns across India.
In previous surveys Noida had failed to impress the panel and had ranked very lower on the cleanliness and hygiene parameters. Indeed the real change on ground is what is visible in these rankings too. Be it erecting different selfie points at various parts of the city, reinforcing Noida’s brand identity as Apparel City or beautifying walls with amazing wall paintings, the projects for the makeover of the city’s infrastructure were undertaken at a great pace.
Moreover, with the launch of Seventh edition of world’s largest urban cleanliness in form of Swachhata survey 2022, the city is further gearing up to win more laurels and accolades. Designed with ‘People First’ as its driving philosophy, Swachh Survekshan 2022 is curated towards capturing the initiatives of cities for the overall welfare and well-being of frontline sanitation workers.
Noida with its impeccable door to door garbage collection mechanism, efficient sanitisation services and focus on increasing public awareness and participation towards cleanliness, is all set to make new records.
