Swiggy, a food and grocery delivery network, has had two high-level exits in the last month. Ashish Lingamneni, vice president (VP), head of brand and product marketing, quit the company earlier last week after nearly six years.

According to MoneyControl his departure comes just days after Nishad Kenkre, VP, Head of Revenue and Growth at Instamart, left the Bengaluru-based foodtech behemoth after four years. The company’s grocery delivery platform is called Instamart.

Both positions have already been filled. Swiggy elevated Sreeram Suresh to take over Kenkre’s role, while Aparna Giridhar replaced Lingamneni. Swiggy is yet to respond to the changes in the team.

According to their LinkedIn accounts, Giridhar joined Swiggy earlier this week after 11 years at Unilever, while Suresh has been with the company for over five and a half years.

While Lingamneni wanted to drink beer by the beach as is written in his farewell email, Kenkre on the other hand wanted to recharge and reflect.

Kenkre wrote on LinkedIn, “After four amazing years at Swiggy…I have decided to step away from my current role to take a break, recharge and reflect.”

He added in the post, “In my second innings at Swiggy, I had the privilege of leading revenue and growth for one of the fastest growing businesses in Indian consumer tech – Swiggy Instamart…Lord knows it was not always an easy one, but good things in life don’t come easy.”

Karthik Gurumurthy, CEO of Instamart and SVP of Swiggy, also announced a sabbatical around a month ago after a “journey (that) has been arduous with lot of compromises on physical and mental wellbeing… “I plan…to come back afresh and build something (0-1), something which I have loved,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

The adjustments are similar to that at competitor Zomato, although the scale was far larger and more senior executives were involved.

Gunjan Patidar, the CTO of the Gurugram-based foodtech business, resigned in January, marking the fourth top-level exit at Zomato in less than two months.

Prior to Patidar, co-founder Mohit Gupta had resigned. He stepped down when Rahul Ganjoo, the head of new projects and former food delivery executive, submitted his resignation letter. His departure followed that of Siddharth Jhawar, the head of Zomato’s inter-city meal delivery business, in November.

Nitin Savara, Zomato’s deputy chief financial officer, had left the firm two months previously, in September 2022.
