At least seven people died and another 42 passengers were injured Thursday when a bus caught fire after an accident, Indian police said.

Police officer Kotagi Kallappa said the accident happened after the bus hit a road divider early Thursday near Hubli in Karnataka state, nearly 1,800 kilometres (1,100 miles) south of New Delhi.
