INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE ROBIN HOOD ARMY SERVEDMORE THAN 5 LAKH COUNTRYMEN ACROSS INDIA AND PAKISTAN

This Independence Day, major startups, musicians, and the Robin Hood Army (RHA), came together in a unique project to unite Indians and Pakistanis into action. #Mission500k mobilized students, startups, families, and corporate offices to rally together and serve meals to 5, 00,000 less fortunate people on both sides of the border on Independence Day. This activity took place on 14th and 15th of this month and not only RHA achieved the target, they served more than 5lakh peoples across these two chapters. Volunteers of RHA involved not only in this #500k mission, they go every Sunday in the slum areas to distribute food among needy peoples.
Marquee startups, Uber, Zomato, Snapdeal, Oyo, Grofers, Inshorts, Roposo, InMobi and Pressplay had joined hands to be a part of this #Mission500k, while VH1 driven the message through the music fraternity with artists, FarhanAkhtar, UdayBenegal, Vishal Dadlani, came together for the nationwide movement.“The Robin Hood Army’s desire to feed half a million people across India and Pakistan this year on their respective Independence Days is an effort I whole heartedly support” said FarhanAkhtar.
In a first of its kind initiative, these startups used their platforms and social media reach to spread the word to inspire millions of users to act. They also contributed directly to the project by enabling people to donate in kind to #Mission500k.
To achieve this target Robin Hood Army’s Greater Noida Chapter worked very hard &they achieved their target and fed 12890 peoples in Greater Noida. Greater Noida Robins fed these people on 14th & 15th August. For this they reached out to all the Restaurants, Hostels, Canteens and Banquets of the town to get food. Restaurants like ‘Simply South’ from Jagat Farm participated in this activity and contributed a lot for this mission. Even residents of some popular societies like ATS paradise & AWHO of Greater Noida have donated a large amount of raw materials of food. In the Robin Hood Army Greater Noida team, there are around 50 members and they have professionals, College students & even school kids from DPS Greater Noida in their team. They have covered approximately 15 slums of Greater Noida in two days and servedpeople.
“Hunger deaths are a SERIOUS problem in India, and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to be able to touch the lives of the lesser fortunate. Being able to take the time out from my busy schedule at the hospital, each Sunday, to be able to feed the hungry kids, is really refreshing for me! To see the happiness on the faces of the kids, and to see the men try to push in the queue to get to the front of the line for food, is very satisfying. Said Dr. Shashank, who is an active member of Robin Hood Army.
“Being a part of the Robin Hood Army evolved my perspective about the world. It’s not just about distributing the excess leftover food that collect from the restaurants to the kids. The relationship and the bond we share with them shows us the bigger picture, Said Apurvaa RHA member working actively in Greater Noida”.
“They wait to share their stories with us every Sunday and it makes you realise the kind of influence you can have in developing them as better humans” Apurva added.
