New Delhi (India), May 9, 2023: In a devastating incident, a bus carrying 50 passengers plunged from a bridge in Dasanga village, Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the loss of at least 22 lives. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra confirmed the casualties and stated that several others sustained injuries.
The bus was en route to Indore when the unfortunate accident occurred. Prompt emergency services, aided by local villagers, are engaged in a rescue operation at the site, striving to save lives and provide assistance to the injured, as reported by Mr. Mishra.
Reacting to the tragic incident, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced compensation for the affected individuals. A sum of Rs. 4 lakh will be provided to the families of those who lost their lives, Rs. 50,000 each for the “seriously” injured, and Rs. 25,000 each for individuals with minor injuries.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Chouhan’s government will bear the expenses of medical treatment for those injured in the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office also expressed condolences and announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 for the injured from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
An investigation is currently underway to ascertain the cause of the tragic bus accident, as authorities seek to determine the factors that led to the unfortunate incident. The police are working diligently to gather evidence and information surrounding the circumstances of the accident.
