New Delhi, Sep 03, 2023: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, launched a scathing attack on the Opposition INDIA bloc, asserting that they “hate Hinduism” and are engaging in an “attack on our heritage.” These remarks were prompted by recent controversial comments made by Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and a key DMK leader.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments, delivered at a writers’ conference in Chennai, asserted that “Sanatana Dharma is against the idea of social justice and must be eradicated.” He also controversially likened Sanatana Dharma to diseases such as dengue and malaria.

In response to the backlash, Mr. Stalin clarified, “I never called for the genocide of people who are following Sanatana Dharma. Uprooting Sanatana Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality. I spoke on behalf of the oppressed and marginalized, who suffer due to Sanatana Dharma.”

The controversy didn’t stop there, as Congress leader Karti Chidambaram came forward to support Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks, claiming that Sanatana Dharma “is nothing but code for a Caste Hierarchical Society.”

Amit Shah seized on this opportunity to criticize the DMK and the Congress, declaring, “Over the past two days, they (INDIA) are insulting this country’s heritage and Sanatana Dharma. They have insulted Sanatana Dharma for appeasement and votes.”

The Home Minister also referred to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s 2010 statement in which he had equated radical Hindu outfits to a greater threat than Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terrorist organization. Amit Shah strongly condemned this comparison, saying, “Rahul Baba, you compared Hindu organizations to Lashkar-e-Taiba, and your Home Minister said there is ‘Hindu terror’ in the country.”

Furthermore, Amit Shah asserted that Sanatana Dharma continues to hold a special place in the hearts of the people, and he assured that the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya would proceed as planned, despite past obstructions by the Congress. “The Grand Ram temple will be ready in January at Lord Ram’s birthplace. INDIA alliance cannot stop it. Congress had blocked it for years,” he emphasized.
